Club Marine Series, Day Five -  Collision at Sea!

All crew members from the three boats involved are reported to be fine and well, but 'Spirit of Downunder', has been dismasted. The accident occurred during the Division One race of the CMS at about 1440hrs 20/2/10 in the vicinity of Altona. The other vessels involved are the Elliott 52 CR (formerly 'Moshio'), 'Stampede' and the RP36, 'Smooth Criminal'. 'Stampede' has significant bow damage and is heading back to SYC under Diesel. 'Smooth Criminal' has been standing by on-site and with jib down for some time now.

Naturally, we are very sorry for Lozza (Laurie Ford - her owner), Dee, Neil and the rest of the crew, but absolutely delighted they are all well. Presently, they are at work setting the rig free, before making port at RYCV. They have also sustained hull damage a little further aft of the shrouds.

More information will be posted as it comes to hand, but we are just so glad that no-one has been hurt more than just a few bruises etc.
